How to Wash your EV/Hybrid or ICE
The World is changing.
Before we know it ICE Internal Combustion Engines will be a thing of the past. Alternative power like Electricity or Hydrogen or even Water will be how we continue the freedom of self controlled movement. A real problem for owners of alternative powered vehicles is keeping them Clean. The leader in Electric Vehicles is the Tesla company. Throughout the years Tesla has used Zymöl to investigate and develop safe surface care for their beautiful machines but old habits and learned misbehaviors die hard if even at all.
First Rule - Never, yes NEVER drive your EV or Hybrid through a mechanical automated car wash. There are too many ways your car can be damaged especially if you are not familiar with entering your vehicle into a Car Wash or Free Roll mode. Locking the Charge Port and making sure the automatic emergency brake is completely off is critical.
Second Rule - Never apply hot Waxes or Hydrophobic coatings the forward parts or glass on your EV or Hybrid that has Autopilot sensors or Cameras. These coatings will affect the ability of the system to operate properly and reduce its capacity to see.
Third Rule - Only, yes ONLY wash your EV or Hybrid by hand.
If available put your vehicle into Car Wash Mode and carefully wash the car gently with a neutral pH, non-acidic soap (non detergent) to remove road soils and dirt. Detergents are often sodium salts of long chain alkyl-hydrogen sulphate or a long chain of benzene sulphonic acid. Not exactly what you want on your beautiful paint and they affect rubber seals on windows and doors.
